Blason of Nikolaos Kassotis II

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Escutcheon Field: Azure / Sable.

Charges: A chevron argent with three stars azure, surrounded by three maple leaves argent and a label of three points argent that signals his rank as the eldest son.

Design rationale: The colors azure and argent represent Greece and the paternal line of Nikolaos Kassotis II, while the three maple leaves argent represent his father's Canadian origin through the female line. The mountain-like geometry of the lower escutcheon represents the struggles of life and the three stars azure represent hope for a better future.

Bordure: Although the use of bordure wavy marks an armiger as illegitimate by the College of Arms in England, in this case it symbolises the clouds that surround a mountain top (hence the use of the color argent). The armiger in question has Ottoman Greek origins and isn't constrained by the conventional traditions of heraldry in the West. This is therefore considered a para-heraldic element.
