Alois Balmer (* 1866, in Munich; † 1933, in Lucern, Switzerland): A painter and illustrator, he made beautiful gothical glass paintings and murals for churches in Switzerland, apart from some fine ex libris and wine labels.

He lived most of his life in Lucern, Switzerland. Very active in the turn of the century (XIX-XX c.). Today almost forgotten his bookplates are nevertheless still sought by art nouveau style lovers.
