Notes De Naakte krijger is net als de Heilige Sebastiaan een typisch academisch werk. Het monumentale schilderij toont een op de rug geziene naakte man met boog, schild en pijlenkoker. Gezien deze attributen wordt soms verondersteld dat de man geïdentificeerd kan worden met de soldaat die Sebastiaan met zijn pijlen doorboorde. De zeer bewogen lichaamshouding is rechtstreeks gebaseerd op het antieke Torso Belvedère in het Vatikaan. Net als de Heilige Sebastiaan is dit werk niet door Suvée geschilderd, maar door zijn leerling Augustin van den Berghe. Hij maakte deze kopie waarschijnlijk tijdens zijn leertijd bij de meester in Parijs.
