Summary[edit]
DescriptionArmy and RAF Chinook called in to support Environmental Agency MOD 45159774.jpg |
English: Pictured is an RAF Chinook helping the Environment Agency to bolster the flood defences in a vulnerable area.
As unprecedented flooding spread out over the North of England, the British Army helped the Environment agency and emergency services deal with the difficult situation. With the flooding spreading further East in York and the surrounding areas and river levels, soldiers from 2LANCS (2nd Battalion the Lancashire Regiment), the duty 'standby' battalion, went door to door in vulnerable areas of York to warn residents to remain vigilant. The City of York was divided as massive floods have effectively split the city in two.
