Description
Deutsch: Der Tierplastiker Georg August Gaul (1869-1921) schuf 1912 die Bronzeplastik Adler, die der Industrielle Rudolf Rautenbach (Q55859408) 1937/1938 vermutlich von einem jüdischen Vorbesitzer erwarb. Er ließ sie in seiner gerade gekauften Villa in der Friedrichstraße 58 aufstellen. 1949 wurde die Plastik, nachdem sie in das Eigentum der Stadt Wernigerode überging, auf den ehemaligen Friedhof der Liebfrauengemeinde an der Schreiberstraße/Vor der Mauer am Bahnhof umgesetzt. 2007 musste die Plastik aus Einzelteilen restauriert werden, da Metalldiebe das Werk zerstört hatten.
