Description
English: Marine painting (or his workshop), marginally cut. Painting with inventory number: XXXII:B.67. in Stockholm, Sweden. The painting depicts the Four Day Battle which was fought between the British and the Dutch fleets off the coast of Southern England in 1666. The action was inconclusive but the Dutch under de žuyster had the greater success. This painting belongs to a group of paintings of the battle by the Amsterdam marine painter Abraham Storck. None is dated but they were certainly painted long after the battle took place. The painting has previously been attributed to Willem van de Velde the Elder and Younger.
Date between circa 1666 and circa 1700
