[edit]DescriptionALMA front end receivers readied for shipping to Chile (16872092415).jpg | The first "front end receivers" for the Atacama Large Millimetre Array, (ALMA), project left STFC's Rutherford Appleton Laboratory on 11th March 2009. Image shows one of the units for shipment on the 9th March. ALMA is a large telescope constructed to operate at the very highest radio frequencies. It consists of an array of 64, 12m diameter radio telescopes, which will be built in the Atacama Desert of Northern Chile. |
