Deutsch: Bauprinzip der Ökosphäre, stark vereinfacht:
Ökotope bilden mit ähnlichen Nachbar-Ökotopen gemeinsame Ökochoren. Ökoton: Ein Übergangs- oder Saumökotop zwischen zwei Ökotopen etc. Ökotop ist synonym zu Biotop. Für die irdische Biosphäre werden vierzehn terrestrische Biome (mit insgesamt 867 Ökoregionen) unterschieden.
