Description
English:
"First Church at Ifako, Calabar", late 19th century
Group picture of Ifako villagers grouped outside the first church to be built there. The church has a thatched roof and plaster walls.; Ifako is located in later day Nigeria. The first Okoyong church was built at Ifako and was designed by Mary Slessor. The chiefs promised that this church would be a sanctuary of refuge and that no weapon would be carried into it.
