Scope Nominated as the most valued image on Commons within the scope:
Pistacia vera (Pistachio), branches and leaves
Used in Global usage
Reason This specimen is unique and a historical one. Was planted in the Jardin des Plantes of Paris in 1702, and used by Sébastien Vaillant for studying and demonstrating the vegetal sexuality in 1716. Maybe one of the highest encyclopedic value for a Pistacia vera. -- Jebulon (talk)

Info English vernacular name added now, sorry.--Jebulon (talk) 17:18, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
CommentThere is some noteworthy competition, but this is the only one that's geocoded, and it has a very informative and well-built information page. The image is also of high quality, and I would support it in a second, but for one problem: I can't really see fruit here. There are some very small buds, but the other images really do show big and ripe fruit. I suggest changing the scope to Pistacia vera (Pistachio), branches and leaves. With that, the image has my support. --MichaelBueker (talk) 14:23, 12 October 2010 (UTC) ✓ Done because no opposition or other comments.--Jebulon (talk) 21:39, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
