Scope Nominated as the most valued image on Commons within the scope:
Pinus albicaulis (Whitebark Pine), seed cone
Used in Global usage
Reason The subject fills the frame but is not cut off at the top as is File:Pinus albicaulis 8579.JPG. This species is easily distinguished from Pinus flexilis and Pinus monticola by its dark purple immature seed cones, when present. The mature seeds of this species are an important food source of Nucifraga columbiana. -- Walter Siegmund (talk)
