    • Hehe ;-). Indeed, it is a vague animal. Lots of parasites turn into mere reproductive machines with the other parts reduced as much as possible. Clavella and other species of it's family have lost all appendices and consist of a (still vaguely segmented) body and two large egg sacks. Identification is based on the form of the egg sacks and especially on the host to which the animal is attached. They are quite host specific (here Whiting - Merlangius merlangus). Have a look at this for a another parasitic copepod which still has a larger body structure. Lycaon (talk) 08:33, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
